The American Heart Association estimates that 8-12 million people suffer from peripheral artery disease (PAD). This common ailment results from restricted blood flow in any blood vessel or artery outside of the heart or brain. Caused by fatty deposits called plaque, these blockages restrict blood circulation and increase your risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney failure and poor wound healing.
