Palliative Care

Support for those with serious illnesses

The palliative care team at The University of Kansas Hospital provides services to meet the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of patients with serious illnesses.

Palliative care can be provided at any stage of an illness. Our specialty-trained team of physicians, nurses and social workers:

  • Relieves suffering through the treatment of pain and other disease symptoms
  • Provides psychological and spiritual care to patients and families
  • Helps patients live each day as well as possible
  • Promotes and facilitates patient-centered decisions

Palliative Care Suites

The University of Kansas Hospital's three dedicated palliative care suites provide homelike atmospheres for patients and families. The suites, which include a kitchen area, family room and sleeping accommodations, were made possible through donations from Treads & Threads.
