Urogynecology

Personalized care for women of all ages

Women of all ages can receive personalized gynecological, reproductive and sexual health care. This includes the most advanced diagnostic and surgical procedures.

A urogynecologist is an obstetrician/gynecologist with advanced training in the care of women with pelvic floor damage. The pelvic floor is made of up muscles, ligaments, tissue and nerves that support and control the rectum, uterus, vagina and bladder.

The pelvic floor can be damaged by childbirth, repeated heavy lifting, chronic disease or surgery. Damage to the pelvic floor may cause:

  • Difficulty urinating or moving bowels
  • Interstitial cystitis
  • Pelvic or bladder pain
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Urinary incontinence

We offer a full range of surgical and nonsurgical treatment, including:

  • Behavioral and/or dietary modifications
  • Biofeedback
  • Electric stimulation
  • Medication
  • Pelvic exercises
  • Surgery
  • Vaginal devices

Minimally invasive surgery

We have the only fellowship-trained urologic and gynecologic surgeons in the state of Kansas who use the da Vinci Surgical System. The da Vinci extends our surgeons' capabilities to perform minimally invasive surgical procedures with greater precision. Minimally invasive techniques mean shorter stays in the hospital and faster recovery times.

Currently, we are using the da Vinci® for these procedures:

  • Bilateral salpingo oophorectomy (removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes)
  • Hysterectomy (removal of uterus)
  • Myomectomy (removal of uterine fibroids)
  • Ovarian cystectomy (surgical procedure to remove an ovarian cyst)
