The University of Kansas Hospital - Marillac Campus: Psychiatric care for children and adolescents.
The University of Kansas Health System and Marillac Psychiatric Hospital have formed a partnership to expand access to acute psychiatric services for children and adolescents.

Our program provides the highest level of intensity available in psychiatric treatment for youth and adolescents. Acute treatment stabilizes patients in need of urgent life interventions and addresses mental health and wellness. Patients receive 24-hour monitoring and have access to the full continuum of behavioral healthcare and daily visits with board-certified psychiatrists. Patients can be admitted to our hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We perform comprehensive examinations to evaluate:

  • Social factors

We collaborate to design treatment plans that may include:

  • Family or individual therapy
  • Medication
  • Referrals to other health professionals

Our physicians are faculty members at the University of Kansas School of Medicine with board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry. As experts in their fields, they play a leading role in educating future child psychiatrists.

Research Leaders

Our child psychiatrists have been selected for participation in the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Trials Network (CAPTN). This national network of psychiatrists answers questions about the long-term safety and effectiveness of medications. CAPTN is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in cooperation with the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP).

TeleKidcare® Program

This special program uses Internet videoconferencing to provide face-to-face care for students who can't travel to the clinic. TeleKidcare reaches children and adolescents at schools, day cares, mental health centers and rural clinics.
