Medical Office Building and Orthopedics Building
Inviting, modern, convenient
The University of Kansas Physicians Medical Office Building and The University of Kansas Physicians Orthopedics Building combine convenience and a soothing, inviting environment.
Patients can visit their doctors and receive lab and imaging services under one roof, with easy access to the hospital. Spacious waiting areas feature abundant natural light, while patient exam rooms promote privacy and accessibility.
Teams from The University of Kansas Hospital, University of Kansas Medical Center and The University of Kansas Physicians collaborated to develop state-of-the-art facilities for patient care. Groundbreaking was July 2009, and the official opening was July 2011.
These are the hospital’s first structures to meet U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification requirements, earning the LEED Silver Certification Rating. Design and construction of the 214,000-square-foot facility included the use of recycled materials and energy efficient technology in water flow, lighting and heating and air conditioning. Contractors also used low-emitting carpet, paints and adhesives.
LEED certification is an internationally recognized mark of excellence that reflects the use of green building design, construction, operations and maintenance that are aimed at providing water savings, energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality.
The medical and orthopedics buildings are at Olathe Boulevard and Cambridge Street. A walkway provides direct access to The University of Kansas Hospital.
The Olathe garage provides public parking to patients and visitors. A skywalk allows easy access to Level 2 of the medical office building, which connects to the orthopedics building. Both buildings feature street-level drop-off areas.
