KANSAS CITY, Kan. (July 16, 2009) – The University of Kansas Hospital has been named to three of U.S. News & World Report’s 2009 Best Hospitals lists. This includes the Heart and Heart Surgery list for the third consecutive year. The other rankings are in Ear, Nose and Throat, and Kidney Disorders.
“Our goal is to be the best hospital in the country for patient care. The growing national recognition for our programs is a tribute to our physicians, nurses, ancillary care professionals and the entire staff,” said Bob Page, president and chief executive officer of The University of Kansas Hospital.
Page said the low mortality rate for the listed programs and many other specialties were a main factor in the increased national recognition.
The ENT program was ranked 36th on the U.S. News list. The heart and heart surgery program was ranked 39th and the kidney program 48th. They were the only programs in the region listed in these categories.
