We performed our first transplants in 1969 and our first simultaneous kidney-pancreas transplant in 1999. In 2007, for the third consecutive year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded The University of Kansas Hospital and our organ procurement partner, Midwest Transplant Network, its Medal of Honor for Organ Donation.
Referrals
Your primary care physician or other health care provider must refer you to our transplant program. We'll send you an information packet with several forms to complete and return to our transplant office. A pre-transplant nurse coordinator will then contact you for additional information and to set up your initial visit with the transplant team.
