KANSAS CITY, Kan -- The seventh annual MIX FOR KIDS Radiothon
held March 2-4, 2005, on KMXV 93.3 signed off the air announcing to
its listeners that as result of their giving a new fundraising
record had been established. Money raised by the radiothon will
benefit Children’s Miracle Network and its support of the
University of Kansas Medical Center’s Pediatrics Department
and Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics.
The emotional impact of the stories shared during the broadcast
overwhelmed Rocket and Teresa, from the radio station’s
morning show team, as they announced $463,000 had been raised
through contributions and pledges to benefit Children’s
Miracle Network. Six years ago Mix 93.3 and Children’s
Miracle Network partnered to raise money and awareness for the two
hospitals. Since then, Rocket & Teresa’s MIX FOR KIDS
Radiothon has raised over $2 million to provide medical care for
children in the metropolitan community.
Approximately every three minutes a child is treated at KU
Medical Center or Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics. In
2004 these medical centers conducted over 400,000 hospital and
outreach clinic visits.
Children’s Miracle Network is an international
organization dedicated to improving the health and welfare of all
children by raising funds and awareness for its member
hospitals.
