Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius will present "The State of Health Care in Kansas" as part of an event recognizing the 20th anniversary of the Department of Health Policy and Management.
The Governor's speech will be delivered at 10:00 am, on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 in the School of Nursing Auditorium on the northwest corner of the University of Kansas Medical Center campus at 3901 Rainbow, in Kansas City, KS. RSVP is required for the public to attend at 913-588-2908.
Governor Sebelius developed an extensive background in healthcare issues serving eight years as Kansas Insurance Commissioner as well as eight years in the Kansas Legislature.
The Governor's speech is expected to cover her vision of health care in Kansas.
The Department of Health Policy and Management was established in 1982 as the Department of Health Services Administration on the Lawrence campus of the University of Kansas. In 1998, the Department was moved to the School of Medicine in Kansas City, and its name was changed.
The Department has awarded the Masters of Health Services Administration degree to more than 350 individuals who now hold management and executive positions in health care organizations throughout the nation. Graduates of the MHSA Program work in management and executive positions in a variety of organizations, including hospitals, health care systems, long-term care organizations, physician group practices and insurance and managed care firms.
