Program Facts

The Liver Transplant Program at The University of Kansas Hospital has completed more than 500 liver transplants since it began in 1990, and is recognized as one of the regional leaders in liver transplantation. In addition, patients on the liver transplant waiting list have an average wait time of only three to six months before transplant.

The success of The University of Kansas Hospital Liver Transplant Program is due to our integrated, multi-disciplinary team approach to the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with various liver disorders. Our nationally recognized team of surgeons and hepatologists are supported by specialists in anesthesiology, cardiology, infectious disease, psychiatry, pharmacology and endocrinology, as well as experienced transplant nurse coordinators, social workers and financial coordinators.

We believe our goals of patient care, teaching and research are mutually compatible and work together for the benefit of our patients.
