The pediatric surgeons at The University of Kansas Hospital are
specially trained in the surgical care of children and adolescents.
They perform a broad range of surgical procedures, including minor
outpatient procedures and complex inpatient surgeries.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, our surgeons work closely
with other specialists in the hospital to develop individualized
treatment plans.
All of our pediatric surgeons are faculty members at the
University of Kansas School of Medicine. As experts in their
fields, they teach the most effective, least invasive surgical
techniques to other physicians.

A Nurturing Hospital Environment
Being in the hospital can be a frightening experience for
children and their parents. In our pediatric units, we create a
safe, nurturing and comfortable environment.
Sleeping chairs are available in each room so parents can stay
with their children. A family room features a TV, sofas, a shower,
a kitchenette and other amenities for extended visits.
While children are in the hospital, a child life specialist
helps make their stay more comfortable by providing school and play
activities. For children who are able to be active, we offer
elementary and adolescent playrooms with toys, books and computer
games.
