The University of Kansas Medical Center has promoted Thomas L. Noffsinger, Ph.D., to the new post of Vice Chancellor for Research Administration. Noffsinger had been Associate Vice Chancellor for Research Administration since 2000. He will continue as Executive Director of the University of Kansas Research Institute, Inc., a post he has held since 1992.

"Tom Noffsinger has played a key role in the significant expansion of research activities on our campus," said Donald F. Hagen, MD, Executive Vice Chancellor of the Medical Center.

"Under his guidance, our research projects have been exceptionally well managed, even with major jumps in funding by federal and private sources. He has ensured that compliance with ethical and legal guidelines is a top priority. Noffsinger's leadership has been essential in coordinating KUMC's efforts into Kansas City's life sciences community, as well as directing programs to take our research from the laboratory into the marketplace," said Hagen.

"This is an exciting time to be part of research at KUMC," said Noffsinger.

"The mix of talented researchers and administrative support  make this campus a strong force for life science research, not only in the state and metropolitan area, but throughout the Midwest." Said Noffsinger.

Noffsinger received his Ph.D. in Special Education from Vanderbilt University in 1969. He has held numerous positions in research, development and research administration for non-profit and academic institutions.
