"Depression across the Life Span" is the topic for the first Saturday Morning at The University of Kansas Hospital presentation Jan. 18, 2003, 8:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. This free activity will be at The University of Kansas Hospital, 3901 Rainbow Blvd., Kansas City, Kan., in Battenfeld Auditorium. Although it is free to the public, advance registration is requested at 913-588-4478.
This presentation on depression will be of interest to spouses and parents of people living with depression as well as those personally struggling with its effects. Counselors, nurses, clergy, volunteers and support staff are welcome to attend. Topics to be discussed include the definition of depression, childhood depression, depression in the elderly, teen suicide, cost of depression, treatment and depression in other medical illness. Featured presenters are from The University of Kansas Hospital’s Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department Elizabeth Penick, MD, and John Wisner, MD. They will discuss the causes, treatment and management of depression. Time will be allowed for discussion and questions.
