2009 ANNUAL REPORT

NEW BMT SPACE OPTIMIZES CARE

The new BMT space was designed with patients in mind.

In February 2009, following three years of significant growth, the hospital opened a new 7,500-square-foot facility for its Blood and Marrow Transplant program, part of the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Care Pavilion in Westwood. The addition included seven exam rooms, 10 treatment areas, five limited-access rooms and two nursing stations.

The new space is designed for optimum efficiency in patient care, as well as enhanced communication among all the health care providers supporting these highly complex patients. Overlooking a golf course setting, it offers a comfortable, serene environment for receiving care.

Expanding the outpatient BMT space was possible thanks to the generous support of philanthropist Annette Bloch. A portion of her $20 million donation for cancer care funded the new area.
