At The University of Kansas Hospital, our donors are our "partners in care." Our hospital does not receive state funding, so contributions are crucially important to help us create and expand patient programs, provide care and medications for uninsured patients, purchase advanced technology and medical equipment, fund staff and patient education programs and more.
Despite a difficult economy, our hospital received more than $21.5 million in fiscal year 2009 giving. This figure includes a significant leadership gift of $19 million for cancer patient care.
Nearly $4.3 million in donations was put to work at the hospital in a variety of ways, compared to $1.8 million disbursed in the prior year.
