For more than a decade, our Hospital Authority Board's deep involvement in creating our vision and guiding quality improvement initiatives has helped establish our hospital as one of the best academic medical centers in the country. Working with our executive leadership team, Board members make crucial decisions involving capital investments, operational efficiency, strategic planning and growth to ensure our hospital's long-term success in providing the highest quality care available to our patients.
In 2009, the Board honored retiring University of Kansas Chancellor
Robert E. Hemenway, PhD, for his longtime dedication and support, and
welcomed new KU Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little, PhD. We also were
saddened by the death of Board member Tom Murphy, who was an active
and tireless supporter of our hospital.
