Hospital rankings are an important way for people to learn which hospitals have the greatest level of expertise and offer the highest-quality care in selected specialties. For the sixth year in a row, as determined by U.S. News & World Report, The University of Kansas Hospital has been ranked the No. 1 hospital in Kansas City and has been named the Best Hospital in Kansas for the fourth year in a row. This is the ninth consecutive year our hospital has ranked on the Best Hospitals list.

Nationally Ranked Specialty Areas

U.S. News & World Report evaluated nearly 5,000 hospital for the 2015-16 Best Hospitals list. The University of Kansas was nationally ranked in all 12 medical and surgical specialties among the nation's best 50 hospitals.

About the Rankings

Since 1990, U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals list has served as a reputable resource for identifying quality healthcare. The Best Hospitals list highlights medical centers that excel in high-risk inpatient care and complicated operations.

Roughly 5,000 hospitals nationwide are evaluated each year based on statistics such as patient survival, advanced technologies, patient safety and hospital reputation with specialists. Rankings are grouped into 16 areas of specialty and updated every July.
